Financial Controller job description

πŸ’° Β£50,000 to Β£90,000 depending on experience

πŸ“ Salary based on London. Hybrid, with flexible hours.

Fanvue is one of the fastest-growing creator monetisation platforms globally. We're an AI-powered, creator-first platform helping creators connect, engage, and earn directly from their audiences at scale. Following our recent Series A, Fanvue has surpassed $200m+ in annual recurring revenue, with triple-digit year-on-year growth, supporting hundreds of thousands of creators and millions of fans worldwide.

We have gone from 45 people to over 130 in a year while doubling revenue. Finance has kept pace, but the processes underneath were built for a much smaller company, and our first statutory audit is coming. This role exists to build the controls and reporting discipline a business at this scale should already have.

🎯 The Role

We're hiring a Financial Controller to own Fanvue's financial operations and reporting, reporting directly to our VP Finance.

This is hands-on. You will own statutory reporting, compliance and management accounting, while strengthening controls, improving reporting accuracy and taking cost out. It suits a qualified accountant with strong technical knowledge under IFRS, commercial instincts, and experience building finance processes that scale rather than inheriting ones that already work.

You will have real influence on how the finance function is built, because much of it is still being built.

πŸš€ What You'll Do

  • Lead the month-end and quarter-end close, delivering timely and accurate reporting

  • Prepare management accounts, cash flow forecasts and variance analysis

  • Own statutory reporting and compliance under IFRS and UK GAAP

  • Manage VAT filings, PAYE submissions and annual HMRC returns

  • Maintain and optimise Xero and the wider finance stack, including Dext, Pleo and ApprovalMax

  • Support annual audits and manage the relationship with external accountants

  • Strengthen internal controls, financial policies and reporting processes

  • Partner with leadership on budgeting, forecasting and margin improvement

  • Take on projects including R&D tax credit claims and system integrations

πŸ‘€ Who You Are

  • Qualified accountant, ACA, ACCA, CPA or CIMA

  • 4 to 6 years post-qualification, ideally from Big Four, a regional practice, or high-growth tech or digital

  • Strong knowledge of IFRS and UK statutory reporting

  • Proficient in Xero and comfortable with finance automation tools

  • Experienced with VAT and HMRC compliance

  • Comfortable with consolidations and multi-currency accounting

  • Strong analytically, precise on detail, and proactive rather than reactive

  • At ease in a fast-moving, hands-on environment

Nice to have

  • Experience in the creator economy, a marketplace, a subscription platform or fintech

  • Exposure to R&D tax credits, multi-entity or multi-currency accounting

✨ You'll Thrive Here If

  • You want to build the finance function rather than run one someone else designed

  • You would rather fix the process than work around it for another quarter

  • You like being close to commercial decisions instead of reporting on them afterwards

  • You are comfortable being the person who says the number is wrong, and then finding out why

⚠️ You'll Struggle Here If

  • You want established processes, a settled close calendar and a team already in place

  • You would rather specialise deeply than cover a broad surface

  • You need someone senior to define the controls before you can implement them

  • You are uncomfortable with a business that changes shape faster than the reporting can keep up

🌍 Why Join Fanvue?

  • Sunday Times Best Places to Work, two years running. We don't just say we have great culture, we prove it

  • A genuine chance to shape the finance function of a company growing this fast

  • Report directly to the VP Finance with real exposure to strategic decision-making

  • Fanvue supports hundreds of thousands of creators and millions of fans globally. The problems you solve here are real and immediate

  • Series A momentum: triple-digit growth means the work you do now sets the standard for years

  • Unlimited holiday

  • Hybrid working, with flexible hours according to when you work best

  • Salary reviews every six months, we don't wait for annual cycles to recognise your growth

  • Budget for growth and wellbeing, plus support with upskilling and development costs

  • A culture built on innovation, speed, excellence, ownership and transparency
