Meter is a channel-first company. Every deal we win goes through a partner, which means it is critical for every partner to be fully trained and enabled on Meter.
We recently announced we're expanding our investment with the launch of our Partner Growth Fund: a $100 million commitment available to qualified partners for partner-sourced opportunities, customer migrations, training, enablement, co-marketing, and development. This is the first installment of what we expect to invest in the Channel over the next decade.
Enablement programs are a core component of the Partner Growth Fund. Enterprise networking is on the edge of a generational shift, moving toward solutions like Meter. The partners who are ready to meet that moment, with the right solution and the right support behind them, are the ones who will define the next decade of enterprise networking. Our enablement programs aim to help our partners feel prepared and ready to meet this wave of network refreshes.
Many sales engineers in the Channel have been selling networking products the same way for decades. They're certified on incumbent platforms, comfortable with what they know, and skeptical of anything that sounds like an empty pitch. Before a partner's technical teams will recommend Meter, they need to validate it themselves and feel confident standing behind it as a solution.
This role builds and delivers the technical training that gets them there. You'll lead Meter Labs, our in-person program where partner engineers build a real Meter network from unboxed hardware, break it, and fix it, and you'll own the lab environments, curriculum, and automation that let the program run three days a month and travel to regional cities.
What success looks like
In the first six months, you’ll:
Lead Meter Labs three days a month in San Francisco, 16 partner engineers per day, with a Meter sales engineer co-leading. You'll own the opening, the labs, and the credential at the end of the day.
Automate station setup, dashboard reset, and teardown using the Meter API so a cohort turns over overnight.
Launch the first regional Meter Labs session with a kit stationed in that city.
Move the Meter Network Engineer credential onto a badging platform and write down what it attests.
Own technical accuracy for Getting Started with Meter and the technical episodes of Meter Pulse.
What your day-to-day will look like
This role doesn't have a typical week. Session weeks are delivery: setup day, three lab days, teardown. The weeks between are for building: curriculum revisions after each session, lab infrastructure and automation, demo environments, and technical content for Meter Learn and Meter Pulse. A session week at Meter looks like this:
Monday: Setup day at the venue. Racking and cabling 16 stations and the headend, running the reset scripts, and walking the room with the sales engineer who is co-leading tomorrow.
Tuesday: Lab day one. Opening the session, running the first two labs, and working the floor while partners troubleshoot.
Wednesday: Lab day two, and the afternoon Q&A with our CTO.
Thursday: Lab day three, and credentials at the end of the day.
Friday: Teardown, then the review of what broke, what confused people, and what changes in the guide before next month.
A week between sessions looks like rebuilding the Lab 2 topology template with engineering, filming a Meter Pulse segment on the new NAC integration, and answering a partner engineer's question about running Meter alongside a third-party firewall.
Who you are
You've spent significant time in enterprise networking, designing, deploying, and troubleshooting. You know the difference between a clean lab setup and a production network at a 50-location company, and you've built immersive lab environments that feel like the second one.
You've been in a partner-facing or field-facing technical role (SE, TME, technical trainer) where you had to earn credibility with engineers who have spent their careers on the incumbents and weren't impressed by marketing language. You've built content those engineers actually used: lab guides, demo environments, training courses, technical videos that helped someone do their job better.
You're as comfortable teaching what a product doesn't do as what it does, and you teach toward what an engineer can build with it rather than listing speeds and feeds.
Specifically:
Expertise in enterprise networking, and you can go deep in a technical Q&A and hold your ground: cloud-managed architecture, identity and NAC (802.1X, RADIUS, IdP integration), firewalling and VPN, multi-WAN and SD-WAN, wireless design, and how SSE and third-party firewalls coexist with an on-premises stack
You've built high-fidelity technical content from scratch (lab guides, LMS modules, recorded demos) and you build it on a schedule
You've led hands-on technical training for groups of 15 or more
You use APIs and scripting to build and reset lab and demo environments instead of doing it by hand
You're as comfortable presenting to 50 people at a conference as you are working one-on-one with an engineer deciding if Meter is worth their trust
Ideally:
Experience in a partner-facing technical role: you know how to talk to a national VAR's SE differently than a 10-person TA, and you adjust to the audience naturally
You understand the channel landscape: VARs, MSPs, TSDs, TAs, distis, resellers, and how each one thinks about onboarding a new vendor
You've built a multi-stage technical training track or credential
You hold, or have held, the certifications your audience holds: CCNA, CCNP, or CCIE; CWNA, CWDP, or CWSP; JNCIA or above
You're glad to travel about 20% or up to 50% of the time to run regional sessions

Compensation
The estimated base salary for this role is between $175,000 - $205,000.
Additionally, this role is eligible to participate in Meter's equity plan.
