Mission Operator - Field Service Representative at Scout AI

Scout AI is hiring a Mission Operator - Field Service Representative in Paso Robles, CA, US. On-site.

About Scout AI

Scout AI builds foundation models for defense robotics. The company is developing a vision-language-action (VLA) model, called Fury, that takes real-time camera data and text prompts as inputs and outputs robot actions. Fury is designed as a foundation model for multi-domain defense, enabling humans to command robots through natural language (voice, text, or map-based inputs) and allowing robots to communicate with each other in natural language for swarm coordination. The model operates in real time in communications- and GPS-denied environments without relying on external connectivity or cloud infrastructure, and is intended for generalized decision-making across diverse platforms and missions.

Mission Operator - Field Service Representative job description

The future of defense will be decided by those who field intelligent machines at scale. At Scout AI, we’re developing Fury, the first robotic foundation model for defense, to give U.S. forces overwhelming, adaptable, and autonomous power across every domain. Fury enables human operators to command fleets of robots through natural language, and empowers those machines to sense, decide, and act together as one. This mission will ask everything of us: urgency, precision, and relentless work.

  • Coordinate with engineering and product teams to escalate issues, provide detailed feedback, and support root cause analysis
  • Support customer demonstrations, evaluations, and operational deployments, ensuring systems are mission-ready and professionally presented
  • Manage spare parts, tools, and field support equipment to minimize downtime and maintain operational continuity
  • Train and advise operators on system use, basic maintenance, and troubleshooting procedures
  • Assist in developing maintenance procedures, troubleshooting guides, and field support processes

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Aerospace, or related field) or equivalent hands-on experience
  • 3+ years of experience maintaining, troubleshooting, or supporting complex electromechanical, robotic, or autonomous systems
  • Strong troubleshooting skills across mechanical, electrical, and software systems
  • Experience diagnosing issues in the field and independently driving resolution under time pressure
  • Ability to interface directly with customers and represent the company in operational environments
  • Experience documenting maintenance actions, system issues, and service activities in a structured manner
  • Comfortable working in field environments with frequent travel and extended deployments (50-75%)
  • Strong communication skills and ability to translate technical issues into clear, actionable insights
  • Must be a U.S. Person due to required access to U.S. export controlled information or facilities
  • Passion about defense of the United States and its allies
  • May be expected to obtain and hold a U.S. Top Secret security clearance
