Senior Software Developer at Noibu

Noibu is hiring a Senior Software Developer in Ottawa, Canada. Remote. Pay: CAD 160k-190k/yr.

About Noibu

Noibu provides an AI analytics and monitoring platform for ecommerce. It captures site visits to identify broken, slow, or confusing elements, non-compliance, and ad spend leaks, and uses supervised AI agents to help retailers increase conversions. The platform offers features such as CRO, ROAS, ADA compliance, A/B testing, session replays, and performance error monitoring.

Senior Software Developer job description

Noibu is AI for ecommerce operations, the always-on optimization system that keeps online stores running at their best. Deployed on a retailer's storefront, Noibu captures every site visit to reveal what's broken, slow, confusing, or leaking ad spend, and where the biggest opportunities to grow are hiding, then puts a team of supervised AI agents to work, turning those insights into action. Each agent owns an outcome, whether it's conversion, page speed, or return on ad spend – finding the work, doing the work, and handing results back for human approval.

Noibu is trusted by leading retailers like Free People, Guess, Liquid I.V., Ariat, and more. Learn more at noibu.com.

About The Role

We're looking for a Senior Software Engineer to help us build and evolve the systems that power those insights.

As a Senior Software Engineer at Noibu, you'll take ownership of meaningful technical problems from discovery through production. A key focus of this role will be working with the large volumes of data generated across ecommerce experiences—helping us ingest, process, analyze, and surface that data reliably and at scale.

We don't expect you to arrive knowing every technology we use. We care about strong engineering fundamentals, experience solving complex data problems, sound judgment, and your ability to learn and become effective in unfamiliar systems and technologies.

What You'll Do

  • Build data-intensive systems at scale. You'll design and evolve systems that ingest, process, transform, and analyze large volumes of ecommerce data, including streaming and near-real-time data.

  • Own meaningful engineering problems end-to-end. You'll work through ambiguity, identify dependencies and risks, make responsible decisions, and drive work from problem definition through production.

  • Design reliable, production-ready software. You'll build systems that are maintainable, testable, observable, and resilient, thinking carefully about failure modes, performance, data integrity, and the realities of operating distributed systems in production.

  • Solve complex data and performance problems. You'll work on challenges involving data pipelines, high-throughput processing, storage and querying, helping us turn large volumes of raw data into useful and timely insights for our customers.

  • Make pragmatic technical decisions. You'll evaluate trade-offs between architecture, complexity, performance, reliability, cost, and speed, choosing solutions appropriate to the problem rather than reaching for complexity by default.

  • Learn and adapt as our technology evolves. You'll work across different parts of our systems and become productive with technologies that may be new to you. You'll bring curiosity, strong fundamentals, and a willingness to learn from experimentation and the people around you.

  • Connect engineering decisions to customer and business outcomes. You'll develop a strong understanding of the problems we're solving and use that context to challenge assumptions and simplify both product and technical solutions.

  • Make the team stronger. You'll contribute to technical discussions and code reviews, share knowledge, mentor teammates, improve documentation and practices, and help others solve difficult problems.

What You Bring

  • Strong software engineering fundamentals and experience designing, building, and operating production systems.

  • Meaningful experience working with data-intensive systems, such as high-volume data pipelines, event-driven or streaming architectures, analytics platforms, distributed data processing, or similar systems.

  • Experience reasoning about the challenges that come with processing data at scale, such as throughput, latency, reliability, data integrity, storage, querying, and failure recovery.

  • A track record of taking ownership of complex technical work and seeing it through from problem definition to production.

  • Experience making architectural and technical decisions where there isn't one obviously correct answer, with the judgment to balance simplicity, performance, reliability, maintainability, and delivery.

  • The ability to independently investigate and debug complex problems, including issues that span multiple services or components of a data pipeline.

  • Experience building well-tested software and thinking deliberately about failure modes, observability, and operating systems in production.

  • An ability to learn unfamiliar technologies and domains quickly. Experience with our exact technology stack isn't required; we're more interested in the depth of the data and engineering problems you've solved.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills and a collaborative approach to engineering, including sharing knowledge, supporting teammates, and giving and receiving constructive feedback.

Our Tech Stack

You don't need experience with our exact stack to be successful at Noibu. Experience with comparable technologies and architectures is equally valuable, and we expect our engineers to continue learning as our systems evolve.

Some of the technologies you'll have the opportunity to work with include:

  • Languages & Microservices: Rust, Go, TypeScript

  • Data & Analytics: ClickHouse, SQL databases, Elasticsearch

  • Messaging & Streaming: Pub/Sub, Kafka, Flink

  • Cloud Infrastructure: GCP and AWS

  • APIs: GraphQL and WebSockets

  • Infrastructure & Delivery: Kubernetes, Helm, Terraform and automated CI/CD
