Senior Avionics Engineer (F/M/X) job description

Your Main Responsibilities

To scale our flight and test hardware, we are strengthening our in-house avionics capability. In this role, you will join a lean team with short decision paths and real ownership, helping turn requirements into robust electronics and software that advance our propulsion systems
  • Plan, manage and conduct hardware designs for avionics modules from concept to test: capture requirements, architecture, schematic, component selection, PCB layout, manufacturing and bring-up etc.
  • Create test plans, plan and support in Assembly integration and test of propulsion hardware. Harnessing and running bench tests on PCBs. Validate at module and system level, document results.
  • Manage electronics and avionics projects and the development of ISPTech’s avionics lab.
  • Plan, develop and build prototypes, manage and conduct design reviews, and reengineer existing boards for reliability, manufacturability and performance. 
  • Integrate hardware, firmware and software, define and maintain ICDs, support propulsion system integration and testing.
  • Apply relevant standards and best practices, design for EMC, signal/power integrity, derating and radiation mitigations appropriate to mission requirements.

Your Qualification

  • At least 5 years of experience in a relevant area. 
  • Experience with supplier coordination, project management or team management.
  • Familiar with the space industry and ideally experience with space projects.
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical/Electronics/Computer/ or a related field.
  • Experience in building embedded systems end to end.
  • Working knowledge of EMC design, signal/power integrity, component derating and radiation effect considerations: familiarity with relevant standards is a plus.
  • System integration experience across hardware/firmware/software. Comfortable with ICDs, harnessing and test benches.
  • Knowledge in C/C++ and python for firmware development, test automation and data analysis respectively.
  • Fluent in English: proficiency in German is a plus.
